Pediatric dentistry is a specialty that provides oral health care for children through adolescence including those with special health care needs. The foremost difficult aspect of dental care that practitioners face is the treatment of patients pain that encompasses a sturdy psychological part wherever conscious attention is required. Success of treatment in pediatric dentistry not only depends on the technical skills of the operator, but also on his/her capability to gain and maintain a child's cooperation. .Distraction is one such method to reduce pain and anxiety during the dental procedures. The distraction process involves optimal patient attention and emotional participation. As pediatric dentists, we have to try to encourage the learning of appropriate behaviors, to teach new ones, and to discourage the use of others which impedes treatment. Implementing the same in a professional and non- litigious provoking manner, forms the basis of this dissertation.Audiovisual technology, video modeling, smartphones, game applications, and appropriate strategies such as open and interactive communication in dentistry can be applied to support their behavior management.
