This is the autobiography of a retired Naval Officer who had an extraordinary career spanning over forty-one years during which he served in three Navies, the Merchant Navy, Royal Indian Navy, and finally the Pakistan Navy. After Partition he remained in Bombay to supervise the repairs of ships that had been allocated to the new country. In Pakistan he relates how he planned, selected the site for, built, and finally commanded PNS Karsaz, the pride of Naval training establishments. Later, at Naval Headquarters he writes of two occasions when the plans for obtaining submarines for the Navy were thwarted. He also writes of his experiences as Director-General Ports and Shipping, as Managing Director Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works, and as Chairman, Karachi Port Trust. Written in an easy to read, conversational style, with interesting anecdotes, this is an exciting book covering a long span of time, all recalled from memory -- a valuable book for those wishing to learn of the early years of the Pakistan Navy and how it developed into the force it later became.
