The book presents current sports buildings, which are characterized by the quality of their construction, their integration into the urban context, and their objectives. Examples of their spatial characteristics from all over Europe document the changed position of sport in society. Sport today means lifestyle and fun and is less connected to joining an association than it is linked to individualization and health awareness. The new sports halls are no longer outsourced to outskirts or other places, but integrated into the urban environment. The visibility and presence of spatial forms for activities such as skateboarding, jogging or fitness today are radically different from the gyms of the past, providing rich and aesthetic contributions to their surroundings.
