The Nightman's Odyssey

It's the year 1499, and French nobleman Damien LaCroix is facing his mortality. A plague is sweeping across the land. Rather than die with his people, he makes a deal with a vampire to live forever. He plans for his betrothed to join him in this unlife he's chosen, but his plan suddenly goes awry when Antoinette dies and his village turns on him.

The villagers burn down his ancestral home, and he's forced to flee France with the mob at his heels. He travels east, where he meets Vlad the Impaler and joins the enigmatic dictator's army. But he becomes disillusioned with his new role as the Impaler's conquests turn ever more bloody and grim. Again, he sets out on his own and finally meets Kate. He's found his place at last. But his newfound peace is shattered once more when Kate is put on trial for murder.
