Theory of Optical Processes in Semiconductors

This book describes the intrinsic optical processes occurring in semiconductor bulk and engineered semiconductor structures such as quantum wells and superlattices. The study is important as all optoelectronic devices (e.g. lasers, detectors, amplifiers, and switches), used in fibre-optic communication and information processing systems and in optical computers are made of semiconductors and their engineered structures. The physical phenomena are explained in this book and a simple comprehensive theory of the processes, not previously available in book form, is presented.
