The author was born in Brooklyn, New York, on August 17, 1930. His parents, and both sets of grandparents, immigrated to this country from Italy in 1901 and 1902. Michael enlisted in the US Air Force in June 1948, serving in Germany from December 1948 until December 1951. After a ten-year enlistment, he returned to civilian life.

In 1957, he took the wedding vows, and he and his wife settled in California. Michael attended San Jose State College obtaining a BS degree in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management. He accepted a position with a major California bank ascending to the position of Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager of one of the bank's two hundred plus branches. He opted for early retirement in 1985.

The book deals with accounts of the author's life from early childhood through the tragic loss of his wife in January 1990.
