The book focuses on basic and essential knowledge for a student of functional harmonies, such as: the formation of triads, harmonic fields, tonal scales, main harmonic functions, etc. Still in this phase, more elaborate theoretical concepts are also presented, such as: modes, artificial and symmetrical scales, the diminished chord, the triads of the upper and lower structures, the modal borrowing chord (AEM) and the polychords. Then, I present how the extensor triads can be used in very simple harmonic structures: the harmonic clichés. In the last chapters, I extend the application of these triads to the harmonies of complete themes, which can employ and unite different types of harmonic clichés. This is the most practical part of the book, where, having the concepts of functional harmony as a basis, I apply the extensor triads in twelve harmonies of themes commonly known as "standards".
In the last chapter, I used some of these theme harmonies to show an unusual idea of using extensor triads in the ciphering process and their practice on music with more elaborate harmonies or with the use of tensions (typical of some genres of 20th-century music such as jazz, bossa nova or even the very Brazilian choro). This process makes use of "inversions" that deviate from the traditional concept, with the application instead of all the original chords of the proposed theme. The sound result is also not unique, as the "parallel paths" of triads are not, and can be adapted to your taste in relation to the use with more or less intensity of dissonances, represented here by tensions. I bet it's worth checking out this news!
I believe that teaching harmonizing (and also improvising) or developing "parallel paths" with triads is something new, or at least something very unusual. PORTUGUESE EDITION
