Vincent d'Indy and his World

Vincent d'Indy (1851-1931) has not yet received his proper due amongst French composers. This new biographical study firmly emphasizes the permanent value of his finest compositions (of which the best known is his Symphony on a French Mountain Air) and his teaching activities. It also indicates the enormous range of his interests, which embraced burning political and social issues.
