Virtual Working

For the first time since the debate on "virtual working" started, this book addresses the social and organizational dynamics that underlie the new ways of working. In addition to providing accounts of developments such as Web-based enterprises and virtual teams, the book focuses on the issues raised when information technology is employed to transcend boundaries between and within organizations. Issues include: managing knowledge and organizational learning in dispersed networks; understanding how team roles and processes are affected by virtual working; managing the innovation process towards virtual forms; and maintaining commitment and managing culture in virtual work arrangements. The book offers insights and perspectives on the dynamics presented by these emerging forms of work, and so could aid in understanding and managing them.
