This book presents wide descriptions of organic materials used in all civil engineering projects, in terms of their scientific and technical background, including the regulations that cover their use and their predicted useful life. Organic materials are essentially perceived as bonding additives in the field of construction. These types of materials include adhesive for concrete and mortar, bitumens and asphalt for road surfacing, polymers for formulating products for repair and structural gluing or admixtures for a more compact concrete. Firstly, we discuss the feasibility of a heat resistant adhesive for strengthening concrete with carbon sheets and stress state analysis and failure mechanisms of masonry columns reinforced with fibre reinforced polymer (FRP). Then mechanical and permeability characteristics of Latex-modified pre-packed pavement repair concrete as a function of the rapid-set binder content and material performance and animal clinical studies on performance-optimized Hwangtoh mixed mortar and concrete are presented in details. We also try to find out evaluation of the chemical and mechanical properties of hardening high-calcium fly ash blended concrete and effect of industrial by-products on unconfined compressive strength of solidified organic marine clayey soils. In the middle part of the book, we focus on material and structural performance evaluations of Hwangtoh admixtures and recycled PET fiber-added eco-friendly concrete and fabrication of cement, polymer, and metal-matrix fibre composites by gravity-assisted liquid-binder Infiltration. Microstructural analysis and rheological modelling of asphalt mixtures and changes in nanoscaled mechanical and rheological properties of asphalt binders caused by aging are also discussed. Then we present the strength mechanism and influence factors for cold recycled asphalt mixture and investigation on using SBS and Active Carbon Filler to reduce the VOC emission from bituminous materials. At the end, we try to describe analysis on adhesively-bonded joints of FRP-steel composite bridge under combined loading and investigations of physical and rheological properties of aged rubberised bitumen. Also corrosion effects on the strength properties of steel fibre reinforced concrete containing slag and corrosion inhibitor and study on strength and microstructure of cement pastes containing limestone powder under flowing acid solution condition are also discussed. Then mechanical analysis of stress distribution in a carbon fiber-reinforced polymer rod bonding anchor and epoxy enhanced by recycled milled carbon fibres in adhesively-bonded CFRP for structural strengthening are presented briefly.
