Rattan

The external trade of rattan is estimated to generate $ 4 billion, but this sector is based on a fast dwindling stock of wild rattan resources available in the forests, particularly of tropical Asia. This volume contains the proceedings of the Expert Consultation on Rattan Development held in 2000. It includes a summary of discussions, recommendations and background papers, which review the situation and prospects for the development of the sector in Africa and Asia.
