Solomon the snail is a beautifully illustrated story book with a very important life lesson: Solomon shows young readers that even though time is precious and should be used wisely, everyone should go at their own pace.

Solomon's friends call him Solomon the slowcoach. Even when he is moving as fast as he can, he hardly moves at all. One day Doris the dung beetle tells Solomon about a beautiful garden at the end of the road. She comes up with the idea that Solomon should slide into his house so she can push him down the road with her back legs. She is trying to help him get to the beautiful garden faster. Solomon agrees, but he gets very scared as he speeds over every bump along the road. Doris is very proud for saving Solomon time in getting to the garden, but Solomon explains to her that snails are not meant to go so fast. He tells Doris that wasting time has nothing to do with speed, it is what you do with your time. The friends agree to not waste time and to stick to the speed they were made for.
