Safina the shark is a beautifully illustrated story book with a very important life lesson: the importance of waiting for the right time to do something. Safina shows young readers that it is not always good to rush into things and that sometimes you need to wait for just the right moment. The story and illustrations also teach readers about sharks and other marine life.

Safina is a young great white shark who likes to eat all kinds of sea creatures. She is always moving, looking, listening and smelling, searching for things to eat. Her good sense of hearing lets her hear animals from far away. When this happens, she rushes over to eat them. But they hear her coming and hide before she gets there. Safina needs to learn a better way to catch her food or she will go hungry. Then she realizes that rushing through the water makes waves and the sea creatures know she's coming, so she tries swimming slowly up to a fish and waiting for just the right moment to snap her jaws shut. And it works! Now she knows that sometimes you have to wait for what you want and that waiting for the right moment works better than rushing things.

This book is part of the exciting Sea stories series, a set of little stories with big lessons. By relating to the fun characters in this series, children can learn valuable life skills.
